I'd say that this isn't just for a beginner, but also for those of us that don't drywall for a living, and only do it on rare occasions. Tricks of the trade that most of us don't know, thank you for passing along all of your tips, tricks and advice! Do you have any advice for an overhead (ceiling) angled joint? I did my best, but it looks a little rough, still need to skim coat it and feather it out.

You think this would work on brown coat? I have a wall where the white coat and brown coat withered away, from old water damage, down to the metal mesh in some areas. I have sakrete concrete glue and it says it’s okay to use on stuccos. I was thinking of using that mixed in with 20 minute easy sand to fill it in as my first step.

you should do sponsored videos with the tool/products you use on your jobs. I like your channel for the videos and your personality, but I would also appreciate you telling me what kind of products u use because you have integrity and that helps me buy stuff I need to do my work. What I don’t always appreciate is some of the channels I watch take sponsorships and you see those products pitched across a ton of channels so they’re just doing it for the money, which I understand, but I think your viewers would appreciate knowing what you buy and use.

As many here, I have watched a lot of UA-cam content and hands-down I find your videos the most useful I have ever watched. I began watching your videos in the spring of 2023 during a renovation. I had 18 holes in the kitchen alone that I had to patch after ripping out the old kitchen and starting over. The house is 100 years old and has a combination of lathe and plaster, various thickness of drywall, and in some places two different thicknesses of drywall over or in place of the old plaster. It seem like every time I got one area patched on the next spot it would require a different approach, and I would be back to the drawing board, looking at your videos to see how to tackle it. I watched other drywall videos as well, but never got the concise, sequential, pertinent information I would need - except from your videos. Your quirky sense of humor was an added plus! ;) There was a pretty big learning curve, but with your information I was able to tackle them all. Now I have a skill set I can use forever. I just had to do a patch in the ceiling from squirrel damage and I went back to your videos for refresher and was able to accomplish it without problem. I can’t thank you enough. I enjoyed the personal “get to know you“ nature of this video, as well as appreciate your candor; and I greatly respect your regard for sacrificing UA-cam content to better build a relationship with your family. 🙏🏻

I have learned so much about drywall and mudding from you and am glad you made all these videos. I hear you on "UA-cam is hard" as we have a Finance channel on UA-cam (not even monetized yet) and can attest to the fickleness of UA-cam. I would love to see you do a second channel doing woodworking and carpentry, that might relieve some of the boredom and breath life back into your UA-cam work. Anyway, love watching your videos and hope you keep it up...I have so much more to learn!

Id be cool with just working videos Ben. You might not need to put in as much commentary as you think. You could do the sponsored thing and just work, pick away at the current project without as much verbal input. The one thing you should share is that the less than average run 1200 sq ft house anywhere in Vancouver is like a millon bones. Ig you were doing this in Calgary you'd be in a house. There us also the stupid transfer tax in BC🤢. I ian a life long Albertan moved to northern BC where my wife is from. Wonderfully in the last decade a big mine and lumber mill shut down and now in the last year the other massive lumber mill closed its doors.... We moverd here during covid too boot 😂. So your saying if i start a youtube channel, money doesnt just roll in on its own hahaha. Digress much

Hanging corner bead is by far my favourite part of finishing. I completely agree how well a drywaller hangs his corner beads separates from other drywallers. Checking levels, evening out spaces and lining up nicely where beads meet up are the things us OCD minded finishers really notice. Even when I do long sections where 2 or more beads need to be used such as along ducting I pull out my laser so it doesn't look like I used a spegetti noodle to bead along it. Cheers from Vancouver island

I'm an IT pro not a drywall pro but this has been my experience... If there's cracking then you're getting movement where you shouldn't be so there are structural or panel installation issues that need to be addressed. I make sure the framing is complete & solid, glue & screw every sheet of drywall, then mesh tape everywhere (yes, even the corners!). No issues with cracking on all four houses I've completed in the last 8 years but I know that's nothing compared to someone who does this as their primary occupation. But that's been my results anyway.

I was a Daddy’s girl through and through. The time he took to teach me has served me well throughout my life. He was raised on a mountain farm up in the Allegheny’s. His father had no qualms with the need for stereotypes so my Uncles and Aunts on that side learned to do whatever was needed. Guys who meet me now, can tell I was a Daddy’s girl, I can hold my own with them all these decades later 😂. I wish my maternal Uncle who was a master carpenter would have had the same set of ethics instead of thinking only boys needed to know. Keep up the great work!

I’m professional and for muddling drywall it’s not that useful. For concrete muddling that corners are not straight,it helps creating a sharp corner. Also it’s even more useful for decorative techniques like cement plaster or marmorino plaster that are nearly impossible to sand when dry and you have to make things perfect during application. Especially when applying cement mortar on furniture ,benches , and other complicated surfaces , its a very useful tool. Side note all tools MUST be stainless steel and they are pricey 😅

You know what? I am creatively satisfied because I was able to roll my kitchen drywall flat after I pulled the tile. That video helped. I have a suggestion, recycle old videos with a pre-cap to point out mistakes and key techniques. Envision a 90 second pre (old video) talk about what to focus on and take away publish that and then make the videos you want. Have you considered a second channel like technology connections? Looks like it works well for him.(edit -spelling)

tip for sanding paint, you'll be surprised how big of a difference when you add a bit of water to your sander, or wipe the surface first with a damp cloth. Even with a high grit 400-600 sand paper, you can sand through layers of paint without issue.
